Canadian Heritage reported on October 20, 2026 that a five-day mission to Shanghai, Shenzhen and Suzhou included representatives of 36 Canadian companies and organizations working mainly in digital media and performing arts. The department says they held more than 370 meetings and signed seven commercial agreements worth over $4.2 million. Those are government-reported agreements, not independently audited sales or payments already received. The test for Canadian creators will be whether these new relationships result in ongoing bookings, licensing and distribution.
