Community groups planning public celebrations in summer 2027 can seek support through Canadian Heritage's Celebrate Canada program. Applications opened October 1, 2026 and close at 4 p.m. Eastern on November 23. The funding supports celebrations tied to National Indigenous Peoples Day, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, Canadian Multiculturalism Day and Canada Day.
The guidelines require an event to be free, open to the public, held in Canada and normally confined to one day between June 21 and July 1. Nonprofits, educational institutions, municipalities, Indigenous organizations and governments, and businesses proposing noncommercial events can be eligible. Canada Day activities must take place on July 1. Meeting those conditions doesn't guarantee a grant. The department considers the available funding and compares applications, including their planned reach and accessibility.
For artists, museums and community cultural organizers, this isn't an unrestricted arts grant. Eligible costs may include event entertainment, promotion and equipment rental, but the program doesn't fund an organization's ordinary programming or a ticketed commercial performance simply because it celebrates Canadian culture. Applicants should check the full federal guidelines and submit through the Canadian Heritage Funding Portal before the deadline.
