Sorry, I Like the Remix More

I love RÜFÜS DU SOL, but the Arodes remix of Edge of the Earth is even better than the original. I don't know why it works so well. It just does.

I read W.T. Moore's piece on Noel Gallagher and thought, why not write about a song I love? I'm not much of a writer and I definitely don't know how to explain what a producer actually does. But I know what I've been listening to: Edge of the Earth (Arodes Remix) by RÜFÜS DU SOL.

I've loved RÜFÜS for ages. Their songs can be a little sad without being depressing, if that makes sense. The original Edge of the Earth is beautiful, and I probably would've been happy listening to it forever. Then I heard the Arodes remix and, yeah, sorry, it's better. Much better. It takes its time getting going, but once it does I always turn the volume up. Doesn't matter where I am.

I guess that's what I got out of the Noel article. You can love the original and still think someone else made something even better out of it. Maybe that's the fun of remixes. You get to hear a song again like it's new, except it's still the one you already loved.

Anyway, listen to both and tell me I'm wrong. I don't think I am.
