Two NFB documentaries bring anxiety and family grief to Toronto film festival

Toronto's Rendezvous with Madness festival will feature the debut of a National Film Board documentary about anxiety and a second film exploring family grief and intergenerational trauma.

Two National Film Board documentaries are scheduled for Toronto's Rendezvous with Madness festival, running October 22 to November 1, 2026. Christine Chevarie-Lessard's O Fear, O Night will have its world premiere there and explores the filmmaker's experience of anxiety through conversations and imaginative encounters. Carol Nguyen's Still Night, Burning House, which premiered at TIFF, follows her family as they confront intergenerational loss and long held silence. The National Film Board announced both selections on October 2, and the festival dates and premiere descriptions come from that originating announcement.
