Ottawa details $4.975 million in Rugby Canada support

Canadian Heritage specifies $4.975 million in fiscal 2026 to 2027 sport support for Rugby Canada and separate funding for four international matches.

Canadian Heritage announced $4,975,000 in Sport Support Program funding for Rugby Canada in 2026 to 2027. That amount includes a $2,815,000 increase under the federal Spring Economic Update. Separately, the Sport Hosting Program is providing $898,000 to support four international rugby matches held in Canada during 2026, including Women's WXV Global Series matches in Toronto and Ottawa.

The October 23 announcement is specific to Rugby Canada's national programs and international event hosting. It follows the broader federal sport funding package, but doesn't announce a new grant for individual clubs or athletes.
