New Brunswick proposes new controls on scrap copper transactions
New Brunswick introduced amendments on October 27 that would restrict salvage dealers from receiving altered or burned copper wire and require photo identification records and a 48 hour hold before payment or processing. The measures are proposals, not current duties, aimed at reducing copper theft and related telecommunications and electricity outages.
