CSC reports a death in custody at Collins Bay

Correctional Service Canada says it will review an October 22 death at Collins Bay Institution and notify police and the coroner.

Correctional Service Canada reported that a person in custody at Collins Bay Institution in Kingston, Ontario, died on October 22, 2026. The federal agency described the death as apparently due to natural causes. That description isn't a final determination of the cause.

CSC says it will review the circumstances, and its policy requires notification of the police and coroner. The October 23 announcement doesn't report the result of any review and makes no finding of misconduct.
