The Condominium Authority of Ontario published answers from its October 22 walkthrough of the new Condominium Authority Tribunal platform. CAT can address certain disputes involving condo records, specified nuisances, governing documents and earlier tribunal settlement agreements. It doesn't oversee a board's general conduct, financial management or day to day operations.
Filing costs $25, moving to mediation adds $50 and proceeding to adjudication adds $125, for $200 across all 3 stages. The Authority also says a condominium corporation needs court or tribunal permission before charging an owner compliance related expenses, including some legal letters. The online platform doesn't expand CAT's legal jurisdiction or create a general appeal process for board decisions.
