Canadian cyber insurers report a steadier market but widening shared risks

Insurance Bureau of Canada reported on October 20 that the cyber insurance market has stabilized as underwriting and security practices improve, although dependence on common technology providers and AI tools could expose multiple businesses to the same disruption. Its 2025 survey found that only 22% of small and medium businesses carried cyber insurance, leaving a protection gap for business owners, brokers and risk managers.
