Ontario regulator proposes revoking life insurance agent's licence over title use

FSRA alleges a life insurance agent used the protected Financial Advisor title without an approved credential. A hearing has been requested and no final finding is reported.

Ontario's Financial Services Regulatory Authority announced on October 22, 2026 that it proposes to revoke Victor Ferreira's life and accident and sickness insurance agent licence. FSRA alleges he used the protected Financial Advisor title without an approved credential and that his conduct raises suitability concerns under the Insurance Act.

These are allegations in a notice of proposal, not established misconduct. Ferreira has requested a hearing before the Financial Services Tribunal. Insurance agencies and advisors should distinguish a proposed regulatory action from a final decision and check the credential requirements before using a protected professional title.
