Ontario auto insurers face October 30 filing deadline

Ontario licensed auto insurers must submit the 2026 Annual Auto Insurance Attestation through FSRA’s Online Services Portal by October 30, 2026. The filing requires certification by the CEO or the most senior officer responsible for Ontario operations.

Ontario’s auto insurers have a concrete regulatory deadline approaching. The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario requires every licensed auto insurer to complete the 2026 Annual Auto Insurance Attestation by October 30, 2026.

For 2026, the attestation is completed through FSRA’s Online Services Portal. The chief executive or the most senior officer responsible for the insurer’s Ontario operations must attest that the company complies with provincial laws and regulatory requirements. That puts the filing at a level where operational compliance has to be capable of supporting a senior officer’s certification, rather than being treated as a routine administrative form.

FSRA also requires insurers to report Minor Rating and Underwriting Rule Errors for the period from January 1 through December 31, 2026. Those reports are due by February 16, 2027. The important point isn’t that Ontario has invented a new annual obligation. It’s that the 2026 filing combines a familiar compliance attestation with a new portal process and a fixed October deadline. Insurers that leave the exercise until the end of the month risk discovering that an operational, rating or underwriting issue still needs internal resolution before a senior officer can sign.

The attestation also sits within a broader period of change in Ontario auto insurance. FSRA has been consulting on the private passenger automobile annual review and implementing other reforms to the rate and underwriting framework. That makes the filing a useful checkpoint for insurers to confirm that their internal controls match the rules currently in force.

The 2026 attestation is due October 30, 2026. Minor rating and underwriting error reporting for the 2026 calendar year is due February 16, 2027.
