David Paradiso assumes federal Correctional Investigator role

David Paradiso's appointment as Correctional Investigator took effect October 13. The federal office independently reviews complaints and correctional practices affecting federally sentenced people.

David Paradiso's appointment as Canada's permanent Correctional Investigator took effect on October 13, 2026, according to a September 29 Public Safety Canada statement. The independent ombuds office investigates complaints from federally sentenced people, reviews practices at the Correctional Service of Canada and recommends improvements. Paradiso previously held senior oversight roles with the BC Ombudsperson and the Correctional Investigator's office. The announcement concerns leadership of an existing oversight body and doesn't itself establish new correctional powers.

Institutional responsibility is never just one document.

An incident report. A review-panel decision. A restraint policy requiring oversight. A transition-of-care protocol. Each begins somewhere, then gathers records, decisions and responsibilities. Binder gives your organization a Matter to keep that work connected instead of losing it across inboxes and handovers.
