Statistics Canada reports that generative AI use at work nearly doubled, rising from 17% in September 2024 to 30% in July 2025. That's an increase of 13 percentage points in about ten months. The agency's data doesn't say whether employers asked for that use, approved it or even knew about it. For HR departments, that gap between what workers are doing and what organizations have formally decided is the operating problem.
