Regulatory Update

B.C. pay-transparency reporting reaches employers with 50 workers

The November 1 deadline brings provincially regulated employers with at least 50 employees in B.C. into annual public reporting.

The 2026 reporting threshold

By November 1, 2026, provincially regulated employers with 50 or more employees working in British Columbia must complete a pay-transparency report and publish it on a publicly accessible website as soon as practicable.

The employee count is taken as of January 1 of the reporting year and includes B.C.-based employees working on site or remotely.

What the report involves

British Columbia’s process covers employee gender information, reporting data and publication. The province provides a reporting tool, but the legal requirement is the completed public report. The 2026 phase is the final step in a rollout that began with government and large Crown corporations before moving to private-sector employers with 1,000, then 300, and now 50 employees.
