Held. The Alberta Labour Relations Board dismissed a former union employee’s application over delay in his termination grievance.

Brad Goertz sought Labour Relations Board intervention over delays in arbitrating his November 2025 termination grievance against Civic Service Union 52. While the application was pending, the arbitrator issued directions setting mediation in January 2027 and hearings in April and May 2027.

The Board considered those directions despite their late submission and dismissed the application as moot. It found no present delay justifying intervention and concluded that another proceeding could prolong rather than speed up the grievance. The Board did not decide whether Goertz's dismissal was justified. (Decision paragraphs 7 to 12.)
