The BC Human Rights Tribunal has refused to end an employment discrimination complaint based on a settlement offer that did not address a potentially substantial wage loss claim. Sefika Lesnikov worked for Anglo American Exploration Canada Ltd. as a geoscience information specialist and data geologist. Her remaining complaint alleges that she experienced repeated sexualized and gender based harassment at work between 2015 and 2019, developed mental health conditions, went on leave in August 2019 and was later terminated while still on leave. Those allegations have not yet been decided on their merits. An earlier Tribunal decision dismissed parts of the complaint, but the allegations concerning workplace harassment, disability related effects and termination remain scheduled for a hearing. In May 2025 the employer made a settlement offer intended to resolve the remaining complaint. The offer included $90,000 for injury to dignity, feelings and self respect, another $10,000 without an admission of liability and $1,500 for independent legal advice.
