WorkSafeBC has paused its regulatory and policy consultations until further notice because of the provincial election. The agency is explicit that the pause is procedural. It does not signal a decision for or against any of the proposed changes, and feedback already received will still be reviewed when the consultation process resumes. That matters for employers that have been following WorkSafeBC's proposed work on psychological health and safety and on harassment and violence. Those subjects had been moving through the consultation process as part of proposed Part 4.1 requirements. The current public consultation page now tells readers that consultations are paused, so an employer working from an earlier calendar should not assume the previous consultation timetable is still operative. The pause does not erase the issues behind the proposals. Psychological health, harassment and workplace violence already sit at the intersection of safety, employee relations, disability management and investigations. What has changed is the regulatory timetable, not the fact that employers still have existing duties and internal processes to manage those risks.
